Since its establishment in 1993, MasterWord has supported the professionalization of language professionals through the establishment, promotion, and sponsorship of, and membership in professional organizations. MasterWord has also incentivized and sponsored employee participation in membership and leadership roles within professional organizations.
MasterWord helped form the Association, which aims to promote language access in healthcare by facilitating training, education, and communication between government, provider, and individual stakeholders in the State of Texas.
MasterWord helped build the Association to create a forum for individuals, businesses, and institutions interested in sharing their experiences; to promote the interests of translators and interpreters in Houston and surrounding areas; and to serve in cooperation with other regional and national organizations in recognizing translation and interpreting as professions.
A MasterWord staff member served as the founding acting administrator of the American Translators Association Medical Division (ATA-MD), a group that promotes cooperation and exchange of information among its members; organizes meetings, workshops and conference activities related to medical translation and interpreting, and publicizes professional development opportunities.
MasterWord provided a representative to the Advisory Committee on the Qualifications of Health Care Translations and Interpreters to represent the interest of businesses that provide translators and interpreters to health care practitioners.
